Illumina HiSeq 2500 Services

The HiSeq instrument is being shutdown on 11/30/2022

Illumina has obsoleted the HiSeq and will stop selling HiSeq reagents on 11/30/2022 so at that time we will stop taking orders for HiSeq runs. The NovaSeq is the replacement instrument for equivalent or greater amounts of data. Please contact us at tucf-genomics@tufts.edu to discuss considerations for transitioning from the HiSeq to the NovaSeq.

Overview of Instrument

The HiSeq 2500 System features two run modes, rapid run and high output run mode, and the ability to process one or two flow cells simultaneously. This provides a flexible and scalable platform that supports the broadest range of applications and study sizes. No other system lets you perform so many applications so quickly and easily. Choose between rapid run and high output modes offering scalable output to fit your project needs. New reagents enable the generation of up to 1 terabase (Tb) of data in high output mode, supporting the greatest number of samples per run.

Rapid run mode provides quick results.

Rapid run mode provides quick results, allows efficient processing of a limited number of samples, and offers support of longer paired-end 150 base pair reads, which enable greater depth of coverage and improved assembly for de novo applications.

High output mode is perfect for larger studies.

High output mode is ideal for larger studies or when the greatest depth of coverage is required. High output mode allows you to batch process > 6× more samples than rapid mode and to complete large projects quickly and efficiently.
